  3. Hi! I am an undergrad student in my final year now, pursuing my degree in chemical engineering. I was really impressed by some of the advice and tips i read on this website and i am able to relate to some of the mentioned dilemmas here when it comes to applying for graduate courses in US. On that note, I would like to discuss with you my chances of applying and getting into the top 10 (or a more relaxed list of top 20) universities. I have GRE score of 312 (Verbal: 153 and Quants: 159, AWA: 3.5) and TOEFL score of 107. I felt it’s a bit of a long shot. But i would like to get your opinion on the matter as well. I want to give this my best shot.

    Thank You.

  9. Hello,

I did my BE in instrumentation engineering from Bombay in 2011 with first class in final year and overall average of 58%. After that i have been working for around 3 years in an engineering company that executes projects in pharmaceutical industry. I wish to pursue MS in engineering management. Will the job prospects be good after the completion of course?
    Kindly guide.

    Thank You.

  10. With reference to the ‘Secrets behind winning SOP and LORs’ webinar, I have some doubts that went unanswered.

    1. I have graduated in May 2014 with two job offers from TCS and Accenture. I am getting joining date in some time around December. I am planning for Fall 2015 so I don’t have any work experience but still have offers from two Organisations. Moreover, I injured my left knee and underwent a surgery on 1st April and then rehab and recovery program post surgery. The usual time taken for the recovery of this kind of surgery is around 7-8 months. (I am still undergoing recovery program)
Should I mention the details of injury and treatment in my SOP? Because, I think, if it went unmentioned in the SOP the admission committee can possibly think that I have been sitting idle between the period of completion of my graduation and joining.

    2. I am planning to give GRE(for Fall 2015) by first week of November. The universities which I have shortlisted have their deadlines by 1st December(most earliest ones). That means, I have about 1 month of time to preparing for SOP and LORs.
a.) Should I plan my GRE earlier?
b.) If I start preparing my SOP and LORs right away with GRE preparation, well in that case, can I go on with what I have planned? I can give up to 8 hours daily on my GRE, SOP-LORs, TOEFL preparation to make up for less time.

Eagerly awaiting your reply as I am really in a dilemma. Kindly Acknowledge.

    Thanks,
    Kush Patel

  15. Hi,

    I need help.

I completed my B.E. from Mechanical engineering in May 2010. Right, after that I worked in Aerospace related projects in Infosys. After completing 2.5 yrs, now I am currently working in UTC Aerospace Systems. I am planning to go for my MS in US in aerospace engineering in year 2015. By that time I would have a 5 yrs. exp. in aerospace industry.

I am planning to give GRE and TOEFL in this year (2014) itself.

I have pursued my MS degree so late, as I had some personal financial constraints.

Please advise, whether it will be advantageous or disadvantageous for a 5 yrs. experienced guy to pursue MS.

    This was my first query.

My 2nd query is if I get a GRE score of 330 ( 165(quant) + 165(verbal)), in what colleges I will be eligible for admissions. Note that I want to pursue my MS in Aerospace engineering.

Please suggest the best colleges for this and also please state the eligibility requirements.

    Thanks
    Sourav
